We build thingsthat don't needrewriting

Progress is a development studio. Since 2018 we have built websites, web applications, mobile apps and bots. Our oldest running project is 5 years old and still evolving without a ground-up rebuild.

What we do

03 — How we work

6 rules we don't bend

01

We argue at the estimate, not mid-project

If we think you are asking for something that will not solve your problem, we say so before the contract is signed. Four of the projects in our portfolio changed direction at exactly that point. Agreeing to everything and then rebuilding at the client's expense is not how we work.

02

Our own team, no subcontracting

11 people on staff. We do not take projects we cannot deliver ourselves, and we do not resell the work to freelancers. If something falls outside what we do, we say so and recommend colleagues.

03

We build on an open stack

Next.js, PostgreSQL, Go — everything we work with is open and widely used. We have no proprietary CMS or framework that would leave you unable to hire anyone else. Changing contractor is a hiring question, not a matter of buying a technology back from us.

04

Fixed estimates, stage by stage

The estimate is broken down by stage and we do not exceed it unless the requirements changed. When you add something new, we price it separately and show you before the work starts, not on the invoice afterwards.

05

Documentation written as we go

Not in the last week before handover. The data schema, API documentation and deployment instructions exist from the moment the first code does. Because of that, handing a project to your team takes days rather than months.

06

Success is a project that never needed rewriting

Our oldest running project is 5 years old and still being developed without a ground-up rebuild. That is the horizon we design against, not the delivery date.

04 — Process

How a project runs

The full process
  1. 011–2 days

    Enquiry and first call

We reply within one business day. The first call runs 40–60 minutes: what the problem is, what you have already tried, what the constraints on time and budget are.

  2. 021–3 weeks

    Discovery and specification

The analyst meets the people who will actually use the product, not only the person who signs off on it. We map the current process, document scenarios and draw the data schema.

  3. 032–6 weeks

    Architecture and design

Black-and-white wireframes first, because changes are cheapest there. Once the structure is agreed, visual design and a design system covering loading, error and empty states.

  4. 044–20 weeks

    Development

Two-week sprints. Each ends with a demo call and an updated staging environment you have access to.

  5. 051–3 weeks

    Testing and acceptance

We test complete scenarios rather than individual features. On larger projects that includes load testing and migrating real data into staging.

  6. 06ongoing

    Launch and maintenance

We deploy to production and set up monitoring, backups and error tracking. Everything found in the first month after launch is fixed free of charge.

06 — Testimonials

What clients say

«We expected to get an order form. Instead the analyst came back and said a form would not solve the problem, and explained why. We argued for a week, then agreed. If they had built what we asked for, we would have been rebuilding it six months later.»

Commercial Director, StroyMarket

«The Apple review work deserves a mention. We were rejected twice and I was sure we were stuck for months. The Progress team simply assembled the paperwork and got through, with no extra invoice.»

Marina Lebedeva

Development Director, Doverie Clinics

Read the case study
«Going mobile-only felt like a risk — in our heads, training means a computer and a classroom. It is now 92 % mobile, which settles the question of who was right.»

Olga Terekhova

HR Director, Polus Retail

«The real change: the sales team stopped spending its day on "is it still available". People arrive already knowing which apartment they want.»

07 — Questions

Frequently asked

Websites from $5,000, web applications from $20,000, mobile apps from $24,000, bots from $2,800. We cannot give an exact figure before talking: estimates are driven less by page count than by the number of roles and the complexity of integrations. After the first call you get a range; after discovery, a fixed stage-by-stage estimate.
