01 — The problem
The plant manufactures industrial pumps — 180 models. The website dated from 2012 and the catalogue was a single 400-page PDF. Procurement engineers searching for a pump by specific performance figures never found the company at all.
02 — What we built
We worked out who actually searches
We talked to the sales team and collected real search queries. The buyer turned out to be an engineer searching not for "pump" but for "centrifugal pump 50 m³/h head 32 m". The entire site structure was built around that way of searching.
180 model pages instead of one PDF
Every model got its own page with a specification table, dimensional drawing, performance curve and equivalent models. Product and technical specification markup in Schema.org throughout.
Selection by performance
The engineer enters flow rate and head and gets matching models with an indication of how closely each one fits. It is the same tool they use internally, but available before they pick up the phone.
Drawings and documents in the open
We published datasheets, DWG drawings and certificates with no registration gate. Sales pushed back hard: "they will download them and go to a competitor." Six months later they agreed — those pages generate more qualified enquiries than anything else on the site.
